"What does the software show me?"

This software allows you to see EVERYTHING that was changed on your system. If any application installs spyware, adware, dlls, programs, files, or any other type of file, picture, or program, you will be able to see exactly where it was placed and you will be able to view it or remove it. This also shows registry changes, in addition to all disk changes. It seems like more and more programs are attempting to install spyware, advertisements, or various other garbage without your knowledge, but with this software you will know everything that is added and exactly what can be removed.

"How should I start?"

Anytime you are ready to install a software program, or make any type of changes to your system, click the "Before" buttons to capture a before image of the hard drive and the registry. After you install software or make changes, click the "After" buttons to capture an after image of your system. Now just use the "Show Differences" button to show all changes made between the time that you clicked the before and after buttons. You will see all your changes listed in a new window, and you can save or print this list so you have a history of what was done. This will allow you to go back later and uninstall or make sure no other files, adware, or spyware were left behind after uninstalling software programs.

"Will this run on all Windows systems?"

Yes, this version will work on any Windows system.

"What is the registry?"

The registry section is for advanced users. It is a place where various key information is stored when programs are installed or uninstalled, among other information. (This logs all changes done to the hkey current user and hkey local machine "software" keys. This is where the majority of changes are done that are software related, and these are the sections that are monitored and logged in the registry).

"What is the purpose of the "Before" buttons?"

These buttons log all information on your hard drive and registry. They capture an image of your system and you should click this before installing any software programs, so that you can then follow with the "After" buttons afterwards.

"What is the purpose of the "After" buttons?"

These buttons log all information on your hard drive and registry. They capture an image of your system and you should click this after installing any software programs and after you clicked the "Before" buttons (of course). You can then view all changes done before and after.

"What is the purpose of the save button after clicking the "Show" buttons?"

This is a very handy feature that allows you to save and view a history of what was installed on your pc. For example, if you install 3 programs you may want to use the before and after buttons to capture a history 3 different times, each time you can save it to your list and go back later to view exactly what was changed or placed on your system.

How do I report a problem or get software support?

Please cut and paste the following information:

1) What is the system you are running on? (i.e. Windows 95, 98, XP, etc)
2) What version of "Disk and Registry Alert" are you running? (visible by clicking the about button after clicking the settings button on your screensaver list).
3) Please send a step by step description of the buttons you clicked, steps you have taken, and the result or problem that has occurred. Be sure to include the exact messages if a message was displayed.
4) If you are a registered user, please state so for quicker assistance. Please include your registered name and order number if you have it. (or send the email from your registered email id).
